VMware vSphere
VMware vSphere 4 improves upon the previous platform, VMware Infrastructure 3, by delivering the efficiency required to run critical applications in large scale environments. It also provides unparalleled control over application security and service levels, while preserving the client’s choice of hardware, OS and application. With VMware vSphere, even the most resource intensive applications benefit from increased availability, security and scalability.
Logicworks Enterprise Private Cloud currently uses vSphere4, and this environment is designed to accommodate at least 15-20 virtual instances while maintaining complete fault-tolerance and failover. The main advantage of this solution is that it makes use of VMware’s VMotion to handle all evaluation server failover, while providing redundant devices for shared VMFS storage replicated on a block-level using DRBD.
Logicworks also gives clients access to Virtual Center, so that they have an additional layer of visibility into virtual server performance across the environment. This allows both Logicworks and the client to identify potential bottlenecks and make decisions about virtual server allocation proactively before any performance suffers.
